Research on what modern managers need most.
Research on what modern managers need most.
Based on interviews and surveys with 120+ managers across industries, this report explores why manager training often misses the mark and what companies can do to build more relevant, ongoing, and effective support.
Key findings
Managers ranked developing others, leading through change, and giving effective feedback as the most critical people management skills, above more tactical management skills.
Fewer than one in ten managers said their training closely matched the actual requirements of the role, while over 40% said training had little to no alignment with company expectations.
Managers rated active learning experiences, including workshops, one-on-one coaching, and on-the-job learning, as most effective for improving managerial skills over static e-learning.
